Spotlight on Josh Paul: Profile of Daughtry’s Bassist

As promised, I give you the first in a 5-part series of profiles of the members of Chris Daughtry’s eponymous band, leading up to the final spotlight on the famed frontman himself. Enjoy!
Prior to joining Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul (aka “JP”) was perhaps best known for his four-stringed wizardry with seminal punks Suicidal Tendencies. JP was with the band for that surreal handful of years straddling Y2K, during which he appeared on no less than 6 Suicidal Tendencies albums, including Free Your Soul and Save My Mind, Freedumb, and Friends & Family Vols.1 and 2. He also appears alongside ST bandmate, frontman Mike Muir, on the Infectious Grooves album Mas Borracho.
In addition, Josh Paul has also brought his bass bravado to:
- Dead See (Through the Veil, 2007)
- Ashley Parker Angel
- Cyco Miki
- Everlast
- Kelly Osbourne (Changes, 2003)
- The Veronicas
- Samantha Ronson (Roc-a-fella)
- Poltrana (Maverick)
- Jordan McCoy (Bad Boy)
- Hot Potty…
…among others.
He’s also made notable onstage appearances with:
- Tower Of Power
- T.M. Stevens
- Chuck Treece
- Ryan Cabrerra
- Michael Anthony
- Steven Perkins
- and members of the godfathers of funk – P-Funk
JP’s impressive musical resume has led to his being endorsed by a number of leading musical gear companies including:
- Dean Markley
- Ampeg
- Modulus Guitars
- Alvarez
- Ibanez
- and Cort, which has gone so far as to release a special edition Josh Paul signature model bass.
When he isn’t touring the world with Daughtry, 30-year-old Josh Paul lives in Los Angeles. His official website is www.joshpaulbass.com
incidentally, Josh Paul shares his name (first and last) with the Major League Baseball catcher for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
