Daughtry to Perform at University of Alabama Homecoming

In apparent response to rising student complaints about the mediocre quality of the annual homecoming concert entertainment, this year the University of Alabama has booked none other than Daughtry to play at this year’s event.
This will be the first homecoming concert since Alan Jackson’s appearance in 1998 where students will have to pay to attend. But you can be sure, scant few are complaining. And why would they. Tickets for them are but a token $10 (for everyone else: $30). This will also be the first UA homecoming concert since then to be held indoors, at the Coleman Coliseum.
Alabama is a big state for American Idol alumn, having brought to the public’s awareness:
- Ruben Studdard, winner, American Idol: Season 2
- Bo Bice, runner-up, American Idol: Season 4
- Taylor Hicks, winner, American Idol: Season 5
But though Taylor Hicks may have won the Season 5 crown, Chris Daughtry has won the worldwide rock star status and acclaim the others have only dreamed of, with a debut album that is still the number one best-selling album of the year, one year AFTER it was released!
The 2007 UA Homecoming Concert featuring Daughtry will be held on October 5.
