Daughtry supports Feeding America

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

This is something I really should have posted about before the bidding ended and I apologize, but hey, December is a crazy month.

Anyways, the members of Daughtry signed a bowl at the American Music Awards to be put up for auction and benefit Feeding America’s “Fill a Bowl, Feed America” campaign. According to Feeding America, $1 provides 16 meals for a child which is just mind blowing.

You can always count on our Daughtry boys to help out for a good cause. They are so charitable!

There were 53 signed bowls put up for auction and Daughtry’s bowl went for the 7th highest amount at $225. Not too shabby!
The bowls that went for the most money were George Clooney’s for $1000, David Archuleta’s for $700 (who knew that kid would be so popular?) and my boys!!! New Kids on the Block had their bowl go for $575!! I’m so proud of NKOTB, they really pulled off an amazing comeback!

Apparently this is turning into the Daughtry/ New Kids on the Block blog… I realize this but there is just nothing I can do about it right now. The NKOTB have me so obsessed right now and that’s not something I can control. I realized that almost every single one of my posts since like May, I have mentioned New Kids on the Block or Donnie Wahlberg. Oh well, anyone who’s every had a real obsession can understand. Those who have not experienced such an obsession, well, you’ll just have to deal with it!

I’m so excited!
Everything in my life right now somehow ends up back at New Kids on the Block. I’m in the middle of a little obsession right now in case you can’t tell. Don’t worry, it will pass…someday.

The other performers include: Rihanna, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, The Pussycat Dolls, Ne-Yo and P!nk.
Sounds like it’s going to be an entertaining show. Let’s hope it’s more entertaining than the MTV Video Music Awards…

I’m pretty excited about this except for the fact that I already have the original CD so a lot of it is just doubling up on what I already own… I’m torn. I really want to hear the 4 bonus tracks though.
I’m amazed by how well this CD has done and I’m sure with this release it’s just going to get bigger. They have already sold over 4 million copies and have three #1 songs and five Top 40 top 10 hits (which is a record for a debut album, and tied for the record for any album, debut or not)! It is the fastest selling debut rock album in history! It’s really amazing for any band let alone a band’s first CD coming from a former American Idol contestant. Just amazing. Go Daughtry!

In other new music news: The New Kids on the Block’s new Album, The Block, was released today and I have to go buy that as soon as I get out of work. I already know a few of the songs and I really like them. We’ll see how the rest of the album is. Since I’m going to the show in a few weeks I’ll have to at least become a little familiar with the new material. I’m so excited!

Daughtry song on Guitar Hero: On Tour!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Here’s some more exciting Daughtry news we need to catch up on.

Daughtry’s song, “What I Want” is featured on Guitar Hero: On Tour. That is so awesome! “What I Want” is one of my favorite songs from his album. I actually think it’s gets the most plays on my iPod of all of his songs. And it is a PERFECT song for Guitar Hero. That game is sooo addicting. I could play it for hours and not even realize it. Luckily though I don’t own it so I won’t end up wasting my life playing Guitar Hero all day. I have to make a conscious effort to go to my friend’s house if I want to play… it’s better this way.

Anyways, you can click HERE to find out where you can purchase it and get clips of all the featured songs. Besides Daughtry, there are 19 other artists which include:Nirvana, No Doubt, Ozzy Osbourne, Maroon 5 and a bunch more. Make sure you check it out! Daughtry continues to make it’s mark on Rock and Roll history.

I’ve still got lots of other updates coming so don’t worry. We’ll get it all down so we don’t miss anything.

Speaking of getting everything down, I’m gonna post a blog that Chris did a couple weeks ago where he talked about new songs he’s been writing by himself, with the band and even working with other writers. I can’t wait to hear some new stuff from Daughtry. It’s about time they get a new CD together. Click on the link below to read his blog.

Some much needed Daughtry updates

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I know I have been really out of touch with Daughtry lately and I apologize. Instead of just giving recent news I really feel like I have to slowly catch up on all the things I’ve missed over the past couple months (I’m so ashamed I’ve let it go this far).

Anyways, here we go:

All the way back in May (*hides head in shame*) MSN featured Daughtry in their MSN Music In Concert series. They have videos of their full concert on April 3, 2008 at the Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California.
Daughtry MSN music in concert

You can watch it HERE. Also if you follow the link you can see some behind the scenes pictures and other cool stuff.
You definitely have to check it out. Daughtry really puts on a great performance and I almost forgot how much I love Chris’ voice (if that’s even possible).
It brings back very fond memories of when I got to see them live last year. I was really hoping to get to see them again this summer but unfortunately (or fortunately… it depends on how you look at it I guess) I spend my concert money to go to the New Kids on the Block reunion tour in September. As much as I love Daughtry, I am really excited to see NKOTB, and more specifically Donnie Wahlberg… but that’s a whole ‘nother story.
Donnie Wahlberg
Sorry, woah, how did that get in here…

Anyways, over the next little while I hope to slowly but surely get caught up so keep checking back.

Daughtry on PBS: Soundstage

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Here’s some very exciting news!

I just so happened to be searching around on tvguide.com which was very lucky because I stumbled upon something very interesting.
Tomorrow night, Daughtry will be featured on the PBS show, Soundstage. Now, I have never seen this show but in the past it has featured such artists as: Peter Frampton, John Fogerty, Rob Thomas, Jewel, John Mayer, and many other popular performers. So this is pretty exciting. Here are the details I found:

Soundstage
Premise: An outstanding music-performance series featuring in-studio concerts.
Episode: Daughtry
The rock band Daughtry, led by former “American Idol” contestant Chris Daughtry, showcases selections from its multiplatinum self-titled 2006 debut. Included: “Feels Like Tonight,” “Home,” “It’s Not Over” and “What I Want.”

So, it’s going to be an hour-long concert special! It sounds really exciting and I can’t wait to see it. I’m sure it’s going to be awesome.
So don’t miss it!

Soundstage: Daughtry
Tomorrow night! Thursday, January 31, 2008 on PBS at 10pm EST.

Chris Daughtry on Soundstage

On another note, there is still lots of drama surrounding the Grammy awards. (I really wish this writer’s strike would end) It looks like the striking writers will not be picketing the event, which is a good thing. But, they still have not granted a waiver to allow Guild members to work on the show.
So, who knows what will happen. They are saying the Grammys will go on no matter what and the scheduled performers will be there. However, some of the artists may choose to not attend.
Hopefully, things will all work out.
And most importantly, hopefully Daughtry will take home some Grammys… at least that’s all I really care about.

I am upset that the Academy Awards will be ruined this year but that’s a whole ‘nother story.
Just give them what they want to we can watch TV again! Sorry, is that selfish?

Daughtry wins People’s Choice Award

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Daughtry has started 2008 off with a bang! Their song “Home” won a People’s Choice Award for Best Rock Song.
That is such exciting news! Unfortunately they were beat out for Best Group by Rascal Flatts…I disagree with this decision whole-heartedly but such is life I guess.
Congratulations to Daughtry on their win!

Click HERE to see Daughtry’s acceptance speech as well as a full list of all the winners and nominees.

On a side note, I was very excited that Patrick Dempsey won for Favorite Male TV Star. I’m going through a bit of a Patrick Dempsey/ Grey’s Anatomy obsession… I’ll get over it.
Patrick Dempsey People’s Choice Awards
Even though this picture is from last year, I couldn’t resist. He’s just as gorgeous as he was last year so it doesn’t really matter does it?
I can’t wait until the writers strike is over!! It is ruining TV! Just give them what they deserve and let’s move on with our lives.

In other news, Daughtry’s music is being spread around lately…
Their song “It’s Not Over” is being featured on the 2008 Grammy Nominees Album
AND
Daughtry’s cover of Elvis’ “Suspicious Minds” is being featured on the soundtrack for the Elvis documentary “Elvis: Viva Las Vegas”.

So, as usual, Daughtry is very busy and their work is paying off. Definitely a great way to start of the new year. We still need to keep our fingers crossed for those Grammy Awards. Hopefully they will continue their success throughout the year just like they did last year.

Daughtry #1 seller of 2007!

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Apparently the stats I mentioned earlier about High School Musical 2 taking over Daughtry for the #1 seller of 2007 were either incorrect or premature, because according to Billboard, Daughtry is the most popular album of the year! That is such exciting news!! 2007 has definitely been a great year for Daughtry.

Daughtry Album cover

According to Billboard, Daughtry’s self-titled debut album sold 3.2 million copies in 2007.
After Daughtry, the other best selling albums were: Akon’s “Konvicted” which sold 2.7 million; Fergie’s “The Dutchess” with 2.4 million sold; the “Hannah Montana” soundtrack sold 2.5 million; and Carrie Underwood’s “Some Hearts” sold 2.3 million albums.

That’s two American Idol alumni in the top 5, which is pretty impressive. I don’t know what the deal is with High School Musical 2. Maybe the world has righted itself and no longer considers that music so it doesn’t count… but then again the soundtrack to “Hannah Montana” is still on the list so who knows. I’m not trying to be a music snob or anything, it just doesn’t seem right, that’s all.

Click HERE for the full article.

Now Daughtry had better win that Grammy award for Best Rock album!! They definitely deserve it, and this proves it further… kinda.

And speaking of American Idol, the new season will be starting very soon. I’m not as excited about as I have been in past years but I’m still going to watch it… whether I want to or not. I always get sucked in. I’ve been watching it for so long now, I can’t give up on it now… besides I keep thinking maybe it will get better, like it used to be in the good old days. *sigh*

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

This is such exciting news! 4 Grammy nominations? That is so awesome! Congratulations to Daughtry!

Daughtry nominated for 4 Grammy awards!

Here are the categories they are nominated in:

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals:

up against:
“(You Want To) Make A Memory” Bon Jovi

“Instant Karma” U2
“Icky Thump” The White Stripes

Best Rock Song:

I’m so proud of them! I obviously hope they win them all, but at the very least I think they have to win Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song. I think the other 2 categories have a little tougher competition (U2, Bon Jovi, Nickelback, etc.), but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. If they at least win one that would be amazing to be able to say they’re Grammy awards winners! They definitely deserve it!

You can go HERE for the full list of nominees.

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be on February 10, 2008 at 8pm EST on CBS.
Don’t forget! You don’t wanna miss this.

Also, Click here to see Daughtry’s performance at the 2007 TMF Awards in Amsterdam.
Although I’ve clearly never heard of the TMF (The Music Factory) Awards, and I’m assuming you haven’t either, apparently they are the biggest popular music awards in Belgium and the Netherlands. So…Go Daughtry. It’s all part of world domination.

Speaking of awards, don’t forget to vote for Daughtry for the American Music Awards! Voting ends November 2, 2007 at 3am ET!

Daughtry on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown
In other news, Daughtry will be a guest on VH1’s Top 20 Video Countdown on December 8, 2007! Their video “Over You” has been #1 on the countdown for the past few weeks, so GO VOTE and keep them at #1 through December!

Haven’t seen the video or just want to see it again…and again. Here you go:

I love the close ups when he stares into the camera…it’s very hypnotizing…

Also, today is the last day to bid on the signed T-shirt Chris designed to benefit the ONE campaign. The bid is already up to $786!!! Craziness. The celebrity T-shirt with the next highest bid is Gwyneth Paltrow’s which is going for $255. Who knew that Chris was so popular that he would put Gwyneth and Ben Affleck to shame. But, lest we forget, this is all for charity so none of that matters right? Hehe
Again, in case you need the details, click HERE

Well, there’s a lot going on in the world of Daughtry. I’ll do my best to keep you up to date and remind you of all the important upcoming appearances.

Daughtry to Perform at University of Alabama Homecoming

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Chris Daughtry at the GRAMMYs

In apparent response to rising student complaints about the mediocre quality of the annual homecoming concert entertainment, this year the University of Alabama has booked none other than Daughtry to play at this year’s event.

This will be the first homecoming concert since Alan Jackson’s appearance in 1998 where students will have to pay to attend. But you can be sure, scant few are complaining. And why would they. Tickets for them are but a token $10 (for everyone else: $30). This will also be the first UA homecoming concert since then to be held indoors, at the Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama is a big state for American Idol alumn, having brought to the public’s awareness:

But though Taylor Hicks may have won the Season 5 crown, Chris Daughtry has won the worldwide rock star status and acclaim the others have only dreamed of, with a debut album that is still the number one best-selling album of the year, one year AFTER it was released!

The 2007 UA Homecoming Concert featuring Daughtry will be held on October 5.

Daughtry’s Crashed Into College Football

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Chris Daughtry at the Indy 500

Ever far-reaching Daughtry now crosses over into the wide world of sports. How so?

Starting today, September 1, 2007, and continuing through the end of November, all Saturday ACC and SEC football Games of the Week will be kicked off with Daughtry’s hit song “Crashed”.

What a fantastic choice of tune for an event that promises fans load of bone-crushing action! I, for one, will never hear this song quite the same way again. Nor will I ever watch a football game quite the same way either. This is a superior merging of talents if ever I saw one.

Do we foresee a Super Bowl halftime show performance in Daughtry’s near future? I’ll bet we do.

In the meantime, take a look a look at one fan’s vision of the combo…

Daughtry Slated to Open for Bon Jovi

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Chris Daughtry with Bon Jovi
No, you haven’t clicked over to the wrong blog. This is the Chris Daughtry fan blog and that is Bon Jovi pictured above. What gives? I’ll tell ya.

Bon Jovi will be the premiere act at the brand new Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, performing 10 shows there from October 25 to November 10. Joining them onstage are a number of incredible acts, each scheduled to open for Jon and Co. on a different night (or pair of nights, really), one such act being, of course, our own Daughtry.

Chris Daughtry and band will open for Bon Jovi at the new Pru on November 4 and 7. If you remember, Chris Daughtry sang Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead or Alive when he was a contestant on American Idol: Season 5.

Other acts on the docket, and the nights they’ll be there, are:

  • My Chemical Romance, Oct 25 and 26
  • Big & Rich, Oct 28 and 30
  • Gretchen Wilson, Nov 1 and 3
  • All-American Rejects, Nov 9 and 10

So I have an interesting question to ask; which act, besides Daughtry of course, would you be most excited to see? Comment below and we’ll all get to find out which of the other acts scheduled to christen the Newark Prudential Center Daughtry fans like best.
