In Memory of…

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Well, on a very sad note, I was extremely shocked and sorry to hear that Heath Ledger passed away yesterday. I’ve been following his career since 10 Things I Hate About You and it’s so sad that he died so young.

Chris Daughtry posted these words about it and I thought that was very kind of him:

Although I do not know Heath Ledger personally, my heart is broken for his family tonight as I hear the news of his death. Maybe it’s because he was my age. It’s always hard when someone dies but it’s even harder when they go so early. So unexpected. So much life left to live. So many things left to do on this Earth….but the main thing that hit me so hard was thinking of his lil girl without her daddy.
My heart hurts for her and the rest of his family. My sincere prayers go out to them as they deal with this life altering time. They’ve suffered a great loss and could use some words of encouragement to offset all the media. Feel free to leave your thoughts and prayers here. Who knows they just might see it and it just might lift their spirit and help them through this tough time.
Good night and God bless-Chris

In memory of Heath Ledger

RIP Heath Ledger

And while we’re on the topic, I was also very sad to hear about the death of Brad Renfro. Although the circumstances were very different, it’s just so sad to see people who I was always a fan of die so young.

RIP Brad Renfro

Daughtry wins People’s Choice Award

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Daughtry has started 2008 off with a bang! Their song “Home” won a People’s Choice Award for Best Rock Song.
That is such exciting news! Unfortunately they were beat out for Best Group by Rascal Flatts…I disagree with this decision whole-heartedly but such is life I guess.
Congratulations to Daughtry on their win!

Click HERE to see Daughtry’s acceptance speech as well as a full list of all the winners and nominees.

On a side note, I was very excited that Patrick Dempsey won for Favorite Male TV Star. I’m going through a bit of a Patrick Dempsey/ Grey’s Anatomy obsession… I’ll get over it.
Patrick Dempsey People’s Choice Awards
Even though this picture is from last year, I couldn’t resist. He’s just as gorgeous as he was last year so it doesn’t really matter does it?
I can’t wait until the writers strike is over!! It is ruining TV! Just give them what they deserve and let’s move on with our lives.

In other news, Daughtry’s music is being spread around lately…
Their song “It’s Not Over” is being featured on the 2008 Grammy Nominees Album
AND
Daughtry’s cover of Elvis’ “Suspicious Minds” is being featured on the soundtrack for the Elvis documentary “Elvis: Viva Las Vegas”.

So, as usual, Daughtry is very busy and their work is paying off. Definitely a great way to start of the new year. We still need to keep our fingers crossed for those Grammy Awards. Hopefully they will continue their success throughout the year just like they did last year.

Happy Birthday Chris!

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Today is Chris’ 28th Birthday! Happy Birthday Chris!

And apparently he got himself an early birthday present (or an early Christmas present)… ANOTHER new tattoo. He certainly isn’t wasting any time, is he?
Here are a couple of pictures that someone took at a recent show:
Chris Daughtry another new tattoo
Chris Daughtry new tattoo close up
I guess it’s an angel with fire behind it. At least that’s what it looks like to me. Some are saying it looks like his wife…I don’t really see that but who knows?
Now, you know I love Chris Daughtry (would I even be writing this if I didn’t) but that is a really ugly tattoo. I’m sorry. The back one is cool, the other one on his arm of the cross is tolerable, but this one is just too much. Hasn’t he ever heard of the phrase “less is more”? Hopefully this is it for him. I guess it’s a good thing he doesn’t need my approval… or my opinion for that matter.
To each his own…

Anyways, Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, and all that good stuff! It was just one year ago I got Daughtry’s CD for Christmas. And I loved it the second I popped it in the CD player. Now this year I got an iPod and I have to go upload the CD on there so I can listen to Daughtry wherever I go. Very exciting!

Here’s a Christmas message from Chris:

Hello everyone. I’m just hangin out in bed with my wife watchin TV….tabloid shows. I can’t stop watching them. It’s like a train wreck.LOL
So, where do I begin….It’s been an amazing year for starters. You all have made my dreams come true. Literally!
Let’s see….I met 4 guys who would become not only my band but my brothers,we played 265 shows this year, not including acoustic performances at radio stations, we traveled the world, we won some awards, we got nominated for some Grammys and now we get to be home and enjoy our families…the most important thing! Thank you for making this year so special for not only me and my family but the rest of the guys as well. Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight…or morning…It’s Christmas already peeps! Gotta get some sleep because the kids will be waking us up very soon. See y’all next year!!! God bless.-CD

He seems like such a nice guy. I’m so happy for all of his success and hopeful it will continue throughout the next year. Starting with winning those Grammy’s!!!

Chris Daughtry’s tattoos

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Chris Daughtry got a new tattoo recently. I’m not a big fan of it, but it clearly doesn’t matter whether I like it or not. Here’s what it looks like:
Chris Daughtry’s new tattoo on his arm
Chris Daughtry’s new tattoo
It was done by ICE at Starlight Tattoo in Patterson NJ.
Someone on forums of the official Daughtry website posted and asked if it was real or fake when they saw it for the first time, and he actually posted a reply. Here’s what he said:

C’mon guys…… Y’all know I’m not gonna have some fake tat on me. How cheesy is that. I mean, people still ask if my back tat is real. So you heard it here…. if there’s ink on me….it’s real! Why am I still up? I gotta get some sleep.

Speaking of his back tattoo, when I saw it on the inside of the CD case last year, I didn’t know if it was really him or if it was a real tattoo, or what the deal was, but obviously I figured it out quickly. I like this one better than his new one.
It was done by Matt at Budo Tattoo and Body Piercing in Tennessee.
Here’s a picture of that one too:
Chris Daughtry’s back tattoo

I think tattoos look cool for the most part but even if I wanted one (which I don’t) I could never, ever do it. It looks like it hurts so bad, oh my Lord I would die.

I came across these pictures of Chris getting his back tattoo done. The end result is cool but how badly does it look like it hurts? And it’s all red and sore looking *shudder*
Chris Daughtry getting his back tattoo done; shirtless
Chris Daughtry getting his back tattoo shirtless; end result
You have to admit though… he looks pretty sexy in those pictures. He happens to have a very nice back. And the fact that he’s shirtless isn’t hurting anything.

If you want to see more pictures of Chris’ back tattoo (or you just want to see him with no shirt on, which no one can blame you for)… (more…)

Daughtry #1 seller of 2007!

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Apparently the stats I mentioned earlier about High School Musical 2 taking over Daughtry for the #1 seller of 2007 were either incorrect or premature, because according to Billboard, Daughtry is the most popular album of the year! That is such exciting news!! 2007 has definitely been a great year for Daughtry.

Daughtry Album cover

According to Billboard, Daughtry’s self-titled debut album sold 3.2 million copies in 2007.
After Daughtry, the other best selling albums were: Akon’s “Konvicted” which sold 2.7 million; Fergie’s “The Dutchess” with 2.4 million sold; the “Hannah Montana” soundtrack sold 2.5 million; and Carrie Underwood’s “Some Hearts” sold 2.3 million albums.

That’s two American Idol alumni in the top 5, which is pretty impressive. I don’t know what the deal is with High School Musical 2. Maybe the world has righted itself and no longer considers that music so it doesn’t count… but then again the soundtrack to “Hannah Montana” is still on the list so who knows. I’m not trying to be a music snob or anything, it just doesn’t seem right, that’s all.

Click HERE for the full article.

Now Daughtry had better win that Grammy award for Best Rock album!! They definitely deserve it, and this proves it further… kinda.

And speaking of American Idol, the new season will be starting very soon. I’m not as excited about as I have been in past years but I’m still going to watch it… whether I want to or not. I always get sucked in. I’ve been watching it for so long now, I can’t give up on it now… besides I keep thinking maybe it will get better, like it used to be in the good old days. *sigh*

Daughtry is nominated for 4 Grammys!!!!

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

This is such exciting news! 4 Grammy nominations? That is so awesome! Congratulations to Daughtry!

Daughtry nominated for 4 Grammy awards!

Here are the categories they are nominated in:

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals:
“Home” Daughtry

up against:
“(You Want To) Make A Memory” Bon Jovi
“Makes Me Wonder” Maroon 5
“Hey There Delilah” Plain White T’s
“Window In The Skies” U2

Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals:
“It’s Not Over” Daughtry

up against:
“Working Class Hero” Green Day
“If Everyone Cared” Nickelback
“Instant Karma” U2
“Icky Thump” The White Stripes

Best Rock Song:
“It’s Not Over” Chris Daughtry, Gregg Wattenberg, Mark Wilkerson & Brett Young, songwriters (Daughtry)

up against:
“Come On” Lucinda Williams, songwriter (Lucinda Williams)
“Icky Thump” Jack White, songwriter (The White Stripes)
“The Pretender” Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel & Chris Shiflett, songwriters (Foo Fighters)
“Radio Nowhere” Bruce Springsteen, songwriter (Bruce Springsteen)

Best Rock Album:
Daughtry- Daughtry

up against:
Revival- John Fogerty
Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace- Foo Fighters
Magic- Bruce Springsteen
Sky Blue Sky- Wilco

I’m so proud of them! I obviously hope they win them all, but at the very least I think they have to win Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song. I think the other 2 categories have a little tougher competition (U2, Bon Jovi, Nickelback, etc.), but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. If they at least win one that would be amazing to be able to say they’re Grammy awards winners! They definitely deserve it!

You can go HERE for the full list of nominees.

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be on February 10, 2008 at 8pm EST on CBS.
Don’t forget! You don’t wanna miss this.

Did you miss Daughtry’s AMA performance?

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

For those of you who missed the American Music Awards, here is a video of Daughtry’s acoustic performance of “Home”:

I love that song! I think that might be my favorite song on the album… but tomorrow if you ask me that might change because that is an amazing CD.

I may as well just get this out in the open now; there is one Daughtry song that I don’t like. So much so that I have to skip it every time I listen to the CD; “All These Lives”.
Am I the only one? I just really don’t like that song. I don’t get it; I don’t want to get it. I was turned off immediately by the first line: “Doesn’t come down when she calls, it’s time for breakfast.” Come on…
I’m so sorry Daughtry. You know I love your work and I think you are amazing but when that song comes on it’s time to skip to the next song. Which by the way is “What About Now” and it is amazing so I listen to that one twice to make up for the other song.

OK moving on, I went to the yahoo home page today and the first thing that poped up was a picture of Jordin Sparks and a headline that said: ‘Idol’ album bombs. So, I immediately had to click on it, not that I’m surprised at all, a month after this horrible season ended I couldn’t even remember who won. But anyways, I was reading the article and it said that High School Musical 2 just beat out Daughtry for the #1 selling album so far in 2007. I thought that was an interesting tidbit of information. First of all, I did not even know Daughtry was #1 which is pretty amazing. Second of all, how in the world did High School Musical get so popular?? I think I must be the only person who has not seen these movies or heard these songs…but I’m strangely OK with that.

Daughtry wins 3 American Music Awards!!!

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Daughtry walked away with 3 American Music Awards last night! I’m so proud and happy for them! They were the stars of the night!
Daughtry at the American Music Awards 2007
Daughtry wins 3 American Music Awards 2007
And then their performance was the last one of the night, which is great because it was like the whole night was building up to their performance.
They did a great job too. It was nice to hear a different version of “Home”. It was just a great night for Daughtry!
Congratulations guys!

Here’s the breakdown, they were the Winners of:

Favorite Breakthrough Artist
Favorite Artist (Adult Contemporary Music)
Favorite Album (Pop or Rock)

I’m especially excited that they won the Favorite Pop or Rock album award because they beat out Justin Timberlake! Don’t get me wrong, I love Justin as much as the next guy and I actually love his album but, that’s pretty amazing that Daughtry beat him because Justin is really really popular.
Looks like the battle for world domination has added a little twist. This whole world domination theory is just for my personal entertainment… feel free to ignore me.

Click HERE for an article that was on the front page of MSN today. It’s always exciting to see Daughtry in the news.

There is also a little bit of disappointing news however, but nothing big. Chris was not featured in People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2007 issue as they led us to believe. Which is ridiculous because he is much sexier then a lot of the guys that they had in there. Sad sad, I know but on a brighter note (for me at least), Dane Cook was in it. And rightly so…

Sexiest Updates Alive

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2007 cover

Well, People magazine had their big reveal today for Sexiest Man Alive 2007 and it turned out to be (drum roll please) Matt Damon!
Which I personally don’t agree with, but he is still sexy nonetheless. But, as you can see, on the cover of the issue is says ‘Patrick, Jake, Beckham, plus 137 more hot guys’. So, if I were to put money on this, since our dear Chris Daughtry was featured in the 100 sexy men in 1 minute video on the website, I would bet he has a good chance of showing up in the magazine.
And according to People.com it is on new stands now! I’m certainly going to check it out and see. How can you not put him in there? Look at him!
Chris Daughtry is sexy

OK, now down to business.

Daughtry is all over the place right now and there are a lot of ways that we can help to keep it that way.

1) Vote for Daughtry for Artist of the Year for the American Music Awards!!
T-Mobile USA subscribers can text “B” for Daughtry to “262″ (AMA)
Or you can vote online HERE
Voting is open right through 9:30pm EST during the show on November 18.

2) Vote for Daughtry for Favorite Group and Favorite Rock Song (“Home”) for the People’s Choice Awards.
You can vote online HERE
Voting ends on December 6, 2007 I believe…there’s a countdown to when voting ends on the website and I may have done my math wrong, don’t mind me.

3) Vote for Daughtry’s “Over You” music video on VH1’s Top 20 Video Countdown.
“Over You” has been the #1 video for 6 weeks!! Let’s try to keep it there as long as possible.
Go vote HERE
(And don’t forget, Daughtry will be on the show December 8, 2007)

4) Vote for Daughtry’s “Over You” video on MTV’s TRL
Right now they are not in the Top 10 but you can still vote for the video HERE

Bringin’ Sexy Back

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Unfortunately, Daughtry had to cancel their show tonight in Kenosha, WI “due to illness”. (Just so know, I’m not putting that in quotes because I don’t believe it, I’m putting it in quotes because that’s how it was worded on their website…just wanted to clear that up)
I hope whoever it sick gets over whatever it is quickly. I’m surprised they have gone this long without have issues with illness. They have been on the road for so long, their schedule must be insane. And nothing sucks more than being sick when you’re not at home so, get well soon, whoever you are.

Plus they are performing at the American Music Awards on Sunday night so they have to be in tip-top shape! (I’ll remind you again closer to the time but, it’s this Sunday at 8pm EST on ABC)

Chris Daughtry, People’s Sexiest Man Alive?
On a happier note, Chris may be in People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2007 issue. As he should because he is clearly sexy (see photographic evidence above). There is a video HERE that shows 100 sexy men in 1 minute (Oh Baby) and Chris was shown briefly as well as a few of my other personal favs: Dane Cook, Christian Bale, and Paul Rudd!
I don’t know for sure if all 100 are going to be in the magazine so I don’t want to get your hopes up but they will announce the sexiest man alive (for 2007 at least) tomorrow and then the issue will be on the stands on Friday the 16th, I believe.

Speaking of Dane Cook, his new comedy CD Rough Around the Edges came out today! I’m very excited! You should check it out. I heard the new material when I saw his show and it was hilarious.

Moving on, I came across a video of a pretty long interview with Chris from November 8th by a FOX affiliate. It’s really good, he talks about fame, fortune, touring, family…cleaning out guinea pig cages, things like that. And he looks extremely handsome. That’s not really relevant but it’s true nonetheless.

People, Choose Daughtry!

Monday, November 12th, 2007

So remember how excited I was when I heard that Daughtry was playing shows with Bon Jovi? Well now Daughtry is opening up for Bon Jovi during the US dates of their Lost Highway World Tour!
Daughtry and Bon Jovi- Lost Highway World Tour
That is so awesome! Those shows are gonna be amazing. I hate everyone who got good seats to those shows. Why can I never get good seats to anything?

Actually I shouldn’t say that because last week I went to go see Dane Cook and I had 4th row seats!! Needless to say it was amazing…you don’t even understand. In case you don’t already know, Dane Cook is my out of control obsession for the moment and getting to see him up close like that was unbelievable!! He was hilarious! And not bad looking either…
Dane Cook
OK, back to Daughtry yeah, yeah, yeah.

So anyways, if you want to see Daughtry with Bon Jovi you better hurry because tickets are on sale now and I’m sure they’re going to sell out or at least come close! (Again, sorry I couldn’t update you earlier…I’m having severe internet issues and it sucks)
Go to Bon Jovi’s site for all the details and a list of dates.

More exciting news in the world of Daughtry!
Daughtry is nominated for two People’s Choice awards!

Favorite Group and Favorite Rock Song for “Home”

For Favorite Group they are up against Maroon 5 and Rascal Flatts.
And for Favorite Rock Song the other nominees are “Hey There Delilah”, Plain White T’s and “Makes Me Wonder”, Maroon 5.

I personally think they should win both categories (surprise surprise right?) because I don’t like the new Maroon 5 material, I hate country music and “Home” is a much better song than “Hey There Delilah” although people do seem to like that song…

The show will air January 8, 2008 at 9:00pm EST on CBS.

So close, yet so far…

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Well, Daughtry played in my area the other night at the Seneca Niagara Casino and I couldn’t go. I know, I know, it’s sad. I wanted to go but it didn’t work out. Besides, I saw them over the summer when they came to the Erie County Fair so I don’t feel that bad about it (or at least that what I’m saying to make myself feel better). It kills me that they were so close and I wasn’t there!

Here are some pictures from the show though:
Chris Daughtry at Seneca Niagara Casino
Daughtry at Seneca Niagara Casino

For the full gallery click HERE

Now, that I’ve brought it up I need to get this off my chest.
Like I said, I went to see Daughtry at the Erie County Fair in August. I was in the 4th row and I was so excited to see them. They were absolutely amazing. They completely lived up to my expectations, they were so awesome live. And the crowd just went absolutely wild all night. They loved them! I went with a group of friends and we all agreed it was an amazing show (besides the fact that I was directly in front of the speakers and my ears were ringing for 2 days because it was so loud… it was worth it)
So, anyways, the next day people come up to me and ask me how the show was, and I was all excited and tell them my whole story and how awesome they were yada yada yada. Every single person responds with ‘Really? They got a really bad review in the paper.’
So, I immediately went to the store and bought a paper to see what they were talking about. Sure enough, I open the entertainment section and there’s an article about the show. The title is “Daughtry, playing to a full house, is well received.”
Now to me, that indicates two things, it was a sold out or close to sold out show, and the people there really enjoyed it. Am I wrong? I mean what else could the title suggest?
I start to read the article and the guy is just blasting them! I mean, really ripping them apart! The first sentence is: “For the life of me, I can’t understand the appeal of Chris Daughtry.”
That in itself is just completely unbelievable to me. You can’t understand the appeal of Daughtry? What is this The Twilight Zone?
Need I remind this man that Daughtry has sold over 4 million albums worldwide? Can 4 million people be wrong but a single writer at the Buffalo News be right?
And throughout the article he writes about how much the crowd loved them and how much he hates them and doesn’t understand why people like them.
As an attendee of the show I was fully disgusted by this man’s so called “review” of the show. Just write what you see, give me a recap and let me move on with my life. It angered me so much that 3 months later I’m writing about it with hate in my heart.

OK that’s my rant for the day. Moral of the story: Don’t listen to fat, bald, old, grumpy men who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Daughtry came Home!

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Well, Daughtry is back in the good old USA. And what better way to celebrate coming home than a show with BON JOVI!!! Sorry, I had to capitalize that to show just how excited I am about that. Daughtry opened for Bon Jovi November 4th and they are going to be together again at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on November 7th. I wish more than anything that I could witness this but alas, there is no way. Bon Jovi and Daughtry on the same stage? How could it get any better? Well, I guess it could but not without getting extremely fantastical.

Daughtry and Bon Jovi

Also, Daughtry was a guest on TRL yesterday! Sorry I couldn’t give more notice for that appearance but I was experiencing technical difficulties over the weekend (AKA my internet was not hooked up, don’t get me started)
But, you can vote for their video “Over You” on TRL HERE

Daughtry has some exciting news regarding their American Music Award performance that will air live on November 18th, 2007 at 8pm EST on ABC.

For the first time, you can now text in your vote for Artist of the Year and yep, you guessed it, Daughtry is one of the candidates. Daughtry is Everywhere!

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

In case you were saying to yourself, ‘Oh no! I really wanted to bid $1000 on Chris’ ONE T-shirt and now it’s too late!’ Cheer up my friend. They have extended the bidding on the celebrity designed T-shirts to benefit the 2007 ONE Campaign until November 2, 2007 at 5pm EST. So, you still have a chance! Hurry!

Long pointless story time (so get cozy):
OK, you may remember that I mentioned before that Justin Timberlake was taking over the world, right? Well, I think Daughtry is now in the process of attaining world domination as well. Don’t believe me? Silly, you say?
I give you Exhibit A; Daughtry stalking me:
I was minding my own business listening to the radio on my way to work and “Home” came on the radio (how apropos, because I really, really did want to turn around and go back home) no big deal. I get to work, and go into the store in my building to get breakfast; “It’s Not Over” is playing in there, so what.
I was also listening to Daughtry throughout the day at work but that was my own fault.
So, then when I finally got to leave my prison AKA my job, I get in the car and “It’s Not Over” comes on as soon as I turn the car on. THEN I had to get gas and when I went in the store to pay, “Over You” is playing in the store.
So, you see, no matter where I was, Daughtry was there. They are clearly stalking me trying to brain-wash me… or something like that.

Now, in defense of Justin’s plight for world domination, I can pretty much turn on the radio at any point in time throughout the day and “Until the End of Time” WILL be playing… guaranteed. So Daughtry has a fight ahead of them.

Now as a prize for reading that entire rant, I give you some pretty pictures:
Chris Daughtry at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

These are the guys at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida last month.
First of all, Chris is drop dead gorgeous. I’m sorry, but it’s true.
Second of all, his T-shirt is AMAZING! I love it.

Haven’t seen the video or just want to see it again…and again. Here you go:

I love the close ups when he stares into the camera…it’s very hypnotizing…

Also, today is the last day to bid on the signed T-shirt Chris designed to benefit the ONE campaign. The bid is already up to $786!!! Craziness. The celebrity T-shirt with the next highest bid is Gwyneth Paltrow’s which is going for $255. Who knew that Chris was so popular that he would put Gwyneth and Ben Affleck to shame. But, lest we forget, this is all for charity so none of that matters right? Hehe
