Beatles night…again

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

So, week 2 of Beatles night was needless to say, not nearly as good as the first week… which also wasn’t that good.

The Beatles theme on American Idol

When Amanda sang “Back in the USSR” I was really excited because that song is on The White Album (which is my favorite Beatles album) so I thought they would pick some of my favorites to sing. Unfortunately the only other White Album song that was sung was “Blackbird” by Carly which I did not enjoy.

I thought the best of the night was David Archuleta. But I also really enjoyed Michael Johns. I don’t know what the judges were hearing, because I also loved him last week when he sang “Across the Universe”. And for Simon to say it was a mess? I thought they were way too harsh on him.

Other than that everyone else just did OK. It was really not a very exciting night.

I was so happy that Simon told David Cook that he was smug and not as good as he thinks he is! Finally someone sees what I’ve seen since day one!

The results show was interesting. I’m so excited that Dane Cook is going to be involved in Idol Gives Back this year! Love him.
I thought the group song was really good. They sang all the good songs in the medley! They should have used those songs for their performances and then maybe it wouldn’t have sucked so badly!

I actually had no idea who was gonna go home because so many of them were just OK. Of course I was hoping that Kristy Lee would go home because I’m so sick of her! (And I knew there was no chance that David Cook was going home)

But I was a little disappointed to see Amanda go. I would have much rather seen her go on tour than Kristy! At least she’s different and interesting. But what do I know?

RIP Amanda Overmyer…

Daughtry sings with Bon Jovi/ New Daughtry song!

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

You have to see this video of Chris Daughtry joining Bon Jovi on stage to sing “Blaze of Glory” at the United Center in Chicago. It is really amazing!
Bon Jovi is Bon Jovi so you know they are amazing but Chris sounded so awesome singing with them! His voice is just unbelievable. You have to hear this. I would love it if they recorded that song together.
Ahh, it reminds me of why I fell in love with Chris’ voice in the first place.

Oh man, I wish I could’ve gone to see this tour. It would be so cool to see them on stage together! It’s hard to believe that only a few years ago Chris was virtually unknown and now he’s touring with Bon Jovi and singing with them on stage!
I will say it again, if you have tickets to any of the shows on this tour, please come back and comment and let us all know how it was; share some juicy details for us poor folks who are missing out.

Daughtry is also performing a new song on tour called “You Don’t Belong” that Chris wrote. Here is a video of one of the performances:

What a great song! I love that it’s a little more edgy. I can’t wait until they come out with a new album. Hopefully it will be soon because I’m wearing out my Daughtry CD, I need to add more music to the rotation.

American Idol: Hello Goodbye

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

So it is the week we’ve been waiting for with bated breath… or not.
The week we found out whether the Top 12 would murder Lennon/McCartney songs or just sing them not as good as the original. I think we got a little bit of both.
So, why not let a group of “amateurs” tackle the greatest songs of all time? It’ll be good fun.

I actually really enjoyed the show! Love the new stage and the new look, it’s all very exciting.
The three performances I really loved? Chekezie (She’s a Woman), Brooke (Let it Be), and Michael (Across the Universe)
The three performances that sucked most? Kristy (Eight Days a Week), Syesha (Got to Get You Into My Life), and David Archuleta (We Can Work it Out)

I also really liked Amanda and Carly’s performances. And I also really did not like David Hernandez and Ramiele’s performances.

Here’s the video of Michael Johns’ performance because I just love the song “Across the Universe” and I thought he did a good job; I love his voice. Across the Universe was also a great movie but I digress.

I really wanted the bottom 3 to be: Kristy, Ramiele and Syesha… I almost got my wish
And I desperately wanted Kristy to go home! She was by far the worst of the night and is also by far the most irritating contestant on the show.

I was extremely disappointed that David Hernandez went home!!! First of all, I really liked him since the beginning and he had some really amazing performances. Second of all, now he’s not gonna be on the tour and Kristy has a chance of making the Top 10 and that just makes me sick.
He definitely had a bad performance last night but I don’t think he deserved to go home first.
I’m very sad… but I’ll get over it.
It’s not like is was Constantine Maroulis or Chris Daughtry getting kicked off but still.

RIP David Hernandez…

We have our Top 12… finally

Friday, March 7th, 2008

So, we are finally into the Top 12; the most important part of American Idol. Well, actually it would be the Top 10 because only they Top 10 tour (which it so ridiculous, don’t even get me started).

The girls did an OK job on Wednesday, again, nothing spectacular. I was glad that Amanda finally showed why anyone even liked her in the first place. And I really liked what Brooke did to “Love is a Battlefield”. Other than that I can’t really remember any of the girls.

American Idol Results

But I was very surprised by the results show! Very surprised.
Luke was beyond obvious but, I thought 100% for sure that Chikezie was gonna be gone. And then when they had in down to either him or Danny I was even more sure (if that’s even possible) and then all of a sudden Danny is gone? I was very shocked. I don’t like Danny but it seemed like a lot of other people did and nobody really cared about Chikezie… apparently I was wrong.

I was also surprised with the girls. Well, I knew, we all knew, that Kady was leaving… even Kady knew. But then Asia’h vs. Kristy Lee Cook (who I can’t stand) and Asia’h leaves?
Unbelievable. I really liked Asia’h from the beginning. I know she had a few questionable song choices but I was sad to see her go. And I can’t stand K.L.C. I think we’ve have enough blond country singers on this show, can we please move on?

And Blake Lewis was there to entertain us…
I don’t like him. I like his beat boxing but he is so cocky and I can’t watch him… Hmmm sounds a lot like someone on the show this season. *cough*DavidCook*cough*

Other than those few surprises, it was obvious that the rest were going through. We’ll see what happens on the rest of the show. I’m excited to see the new set! That should be interesting.

These are the best guys?

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

So yet again nobody is blowing me away. What is going on? There have always been some amazing performances in the early stages of the game and this year I’m caring less and less about these people.

I know that you all know that I’ve hated David Cook since day one. And I still do, but there’s something wrong when the one I hate the most is the only one who’s getting any better.
I will admit that if I don’t look at the TV when he’s singing and if I don’t listen to him talk after or watch his video before he sings, he’s tolerable.
I just hate that he acts so cocky and thinks he’s already a rock star and he’s doing everyone a favor by competing on this show. Grow up.
And his comb-over gets better and better every week too, so that’s a good thing.
I need to just get one thing perfectly straight here: David Cook is not the second coming of Chris Daughtry… end of story. He’s not even the second coming of Constantine Maroulis. Just had to throw that in there too.

Anyways, I really hope that Luke and Danny go home this week although I have a sad feeling Danny will be sticking around.
Luke is just so handsome but I can’t bear to listen to him anymore.

Michael Johns on American Idol

I had such high hopes for my Aussie friend and he’s just not stepping it up. On the up side, I do love listening to him talk so all is forgiven.

I would go on to talk about each person and their performance but I just don’t care! It’s so sad! I miss the good old days.

American Idol… Daughtry Gives Back!

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

So American Idol continued this week with their 70’s theme. Although very few people actually sang any good 70’s classics. Overall, again I wasn’t really blown away with anybody. Obviously David Archuleta was great and also David Hernandez. For the girls, Brooke was the best but they disappointed me this week. It’s weird because after seeing Hollywood week this year I thought it was gonna be a great year and now it’s just not living up to my expectations!

Anyways, the most interesting part of Idol this week was the results show. They were promoting the Idol Gives Back show for this year and they said that Daughtry is going to be a part of it! So that’s exciting! Something to look forward to this season. I really enjoy the show last year and I’m sure they’ll try to top that this year.
It will be on Wednesday, April 9th.

American Idol Gives Back

Also they said that the Lennon/McCartney songbook has been released to them this year. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. Clearly they have some amazing songs but at the same time I don’t really want to hear anyone butchering them either… I guess I could give them the benefit of the doubt.

I was so happy to see Robbie go, a little sad to see Jason go… he was so adorable.
I thought Cady should have gone instead of Alaina and I was so upset about Alexandrea leaving! I really liked her voice and I thought she’d get another chance… I guess not.
Oh well, onto the 80’s for this week coming up. That should be horrid. I hate 80’s music.
