Flashback: Daughtry Singing Bon Jovi Live on Regis & Kelly

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

In case you all missed then when it actually aired, the day after Chris Daughtry was eliminated from American Idol he appeared on Live with Regis & Kelly performing Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead or Alive, and boy does he look great!

You wouldn’t know he’d just had the biggest shock and disappointment of his career at the time. And his rendition of the song is worthy of its own spot on the singles charts. There’s no better evidence than this “morning after” performance that Chris Daughtry is and always was a true shining star from the start.

Enjoy the vid.

What Music Does Daughtry Like (besides their own)?

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Well, we can sure get the beginnings of an answer to that question just by looking at a couple of cues he’s already given us.

For one, Daughtry has given us all some deep insight into their taste in (other people’s) music by coming up with an iTunes Celebrity Playlist. On this list are 15 songs that Daughtry loves listening to and that you and I, if we don’t own already, should go out or get online and buy. (Don’t steal music, Chris doesn’t like it.)

And incidentally, before I get to the list, iTunes published this on December 26, 2006. I’m not trying to pass this off as new news. But I want this blog to be Total Daughtry, and it wouldn’t be without this in here somewhere.

So here it is:

  1. Lakini’s Juice by Live
  2. The Day I Tried to Live by Soundgarden
  3. Them Bones by Alice In Chains
  4. Soldier’s Daughter by Tonic
  5. In Memory by Shinedown
  6. Save a Prayer by Duran Duran
  7. Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap
  8. Jóga by Björk
  9. With or Without You by U2
  10. Nature Boy by Nat “King” Cole
  11. Give It Away by Red Hot Chili Peppers
  12. Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2
  13. Helicopter by Bloc Party
  14. There’ll Be No Teardrops Tonight by Hank Williams
  15. Forever My Friend by Ray LaMontagne

I like to imagine how Daughtry would sound covering some of these tracks, which brings us to the second taste our favorite American Idol has treated us to of his taste in music - and that’s the songs they’ve been covering in their current tour.

The first is Alice in Chains Jar of Flies Album CoverNutshell by Alice in Chains (there they are again!) and the other is Filter Hey Man, Nice Shot EP coverHey Man, Nice Shot by Filter(which they actually only play a snippet of in concert, but still…)

Of course, to hear how Daughtry would sound playing these, all you’ve got to do is get tickets the next show nearest you.

Anyway - what covers would you like to hear Daughtry record and/or perform? Comment below - I’d love to know.

Sunday is eBay Day: Check Out All the Daughtry Stuff People Are Selling

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

eBay LOVES Chris Daughtry!

I’m starting a new feature here at ChrisDaughtry-fan.info and, as you might have guessed, it’ll come out every Sunday and be called eBay Day. On eBay Day, I will scour eBay for the most interesting, valuable, rare, and bizarre Daughtry-related memorabilia and other what-nots for sale.

So, for starters is this cute logo which I at first thought was a bumper sticker (and I think I preferred it that way):
Got Daughtry t-shirt
the ‘Got Daughtry’ t-shirt

On the rarer side, this:
eBay clippings collection
Personal Collection of 50+ Daughtry Magazine Clippings

And while we’re on the subject of collections, here’s another nice one (though it’s suspect how “personal” this collection really is):

In the realm of just-plain-bizarre:
eBay Daughtry checkbook cover - fronteBay Daughtry checkbook cover - back
a Chris Daughtry Checkbook Cover
(so you can think of him every time you buy something or pay a bill).

And to close this first edition of eBay Sunday here at ChrisDaughtry-fan.info, are these two matching items:
eBay Daughtry purse 1
eBay Daughtry Purse 2
the Chris Daughtry Purses - so now you can tote that sweet face with you everywhere you go.

I swear, there are so many other great and weird Daughtry items for sale on eBay that I could just go on and on, but I’ve got to stop somewhere. Hopefully some of the more unique items that I’ve left out of this post will still be on sale next week when I can share even more with you. Until then, stay tuned, fellow Daughtry fan. There’s always more to come…

‘Crashed’ & Other Daughtry Songs Now In Movie Previews

Friday, August 10th, 2007

If you went and saw Transformers or Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, you may have noticed that the Toa Mahri mini-movie ad based on the Bionicle toys by Lego, has as its background music Daughtry’s own Crashed.

The funniest part about that, perhaps, is that according to an interview with Chris Daughtry reported in SJ-R.com yesterday in an article entitled “Home Is On The Road” by Nick Rogers, Chris and the band were unaware the song had even been licensed for those purposes until they saw it on the big screen themselves.

Well, enough prefacing. If you haven’t seen the Toa Mahri mini-movie in question, here it is:

Pretty wild, huh? I always knew Legos were cool, but who knew they had come so far?

But the fun doesn’t stop there. I decided to do a You Tube search for movie previews with Daughtry songs in them and found more than you’d imagine. For starters, check out this Spiderman 3 preview:

Now before you click this next link, be advised - you’re not seeing double. Here’s the same basic Spiderman 3 preview, only set to “There and Back Again”.

And wait, it’s not over, because
here it is again, this time with “It’s Not Over”.

Whew, that’s a lot of Spidey. But it’s not over indeed, because here - to close this Hollywood-esque post - are two You Tube videos promoting movies long gone to DVD set to - you guessed it - It’s Not Over (starts about 4 minutes in):

The Gladiator

and

The Punisher

Which one is your favorite? What movie previews would you like to see re-edited with which Daughtry songs in the background? Comment below and we’ll all get to know. (Maybe we’ll even be able to convince some You Tuber to make some by request.)

Now 25 f/Daughtry at #3 on Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Now 25 album cover
Now 25
, the 25th volume of Now That’s What I Call Music - a various artists compilation of the best in new music - slides this week from number 1 to number 3 on the Billboard 200 Albums ChartBillboard Logo.

This is the 3rd week on the chart for the 20-song album, which closes with Daughtry’s Home, a single off his Triple Platinum debut album Daughtry album cover
Daughtry
which, incidentally, is at #25 this week, its 37th week on the chart where it peaked at #1.

Now 25 also features fellow American Idol alumn:

Now 25 also features tracks by modernday superstars: Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani w/Akon, Pink, Fergie, Beyonce/Shakira, Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, T-Pain w/Yung Joc, Lloyd - Get It Shawty, Huey, Mims, Bone Thugs N-Harmony w/Akon, Bow Wow, Boys Like Girls, and Keith Urban.

What do I think about the album? I think I wish I’d known about it before I bought most of these songs individually off of iTunes. It’s a great collection of tracks, and if you don’t already have them, this is a great way to get ‘em all in one shot.
