VH1 loved Daughtry in 2008

by

Well, it looks like Daughtry was well loved in 2008. At least according to VH1.

For their list of the Top 100 most popular videos of 2008, Daughtry’s “Feels Like Tonight” came in at #2! (right behind Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” which is understandable because that is an awesome song)
Daughtry’s video for “What About Now” came in at #15 and even “Over You” made the list at #98.
Three videos for the Top 100 of 2008 is pretty amazing.
Here’s a link to the video:“Feels Like Tonight” Music Video

And of course, we talked about this, I have to discuss my boys the New Kids on the Block who also made the list; twice! Their video for “Summertime” came in at #3, right behind Daughtry! And their video for “Single” also made the list at #29. I’m so happy for the success of their comeback! They deserve it!

VH1 also had a special on TV for the Top 40 video of 2008 and Daughtry’s “Feels Like Tonight” came in at #6. Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” was #1 on that list too!
And the New Kids on the Block’s “Single” was #33. I was surprised that “Summertime” didn’t make that list.

So, I guess the Top 100 list was decided by the popularity according to fans and the Top 40 list was somehow put together by VH1.
Click HERE to see the full lists on VH1.com.

Either way, Daughtry had a very good year. Along with New Kids on the Block =)
I’m sure the success will continue in 2009 and maybe we will finally get to hear Daughtry’s highly anticipated sophomore album! Keep your fingers crossed!

Happy New Year Everyone!

American Idol Flashback: Top 20

by

Today is Chris Daughtry’s birthday and he turns 29 years old! Happy Birthday Chris!!
(I would not want my birthday to be the day after Christmas…just sayin’)

In honor of Chris’ birthday, I’m gonna do something I haven’t done in almost a year (!!): an American Idol Flashback. You know you’re excited! If you didn’t either overtly or secretly love American Idol, you probably would be here right now.

So here it goes, we left off at the Top 20. And of course you know they split up the guys and girls, so this is now the top 10 guys.

Chris went last and performed Fuel’s “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” which was by far one of his best performances. Here’s the full video with the judges comments:

After this performance, and seeing all the judges really give him a lot of praise, I knew 100% for sure that he was going to make it to the top few people. This is definitely one of my favorite of Chris’ performances. I love this song and he did such an amazing job with it, and of course, what a voice he has!!

I almost died after I heard him sing that song. I immediately found in online and listened to it over and over until the next week. That was back in the days when I was absolutely obsessed with American Idol. I still love that show but it’s just not as good as it used to be.
The new season starts in a couple weeks and they’re making a lot of changes, so maybe this year we’ll get back to how good it used to be. I can only hope!

Daughtry ringing in the New Year!

by

Daughtry will be performing “Home” on FOX’s New Year’s Eve special!

It will air on FOX on Wednesday, December 31st at 11:00pm - 12:30am
It will play live in ET and will be tape delayed for all other time zones.

It’s gonna be hosted by Spike Feresten and Mark Thompson… Um… who are these people? This is the best they could come up with for New Year’s Eve? Whatever.

And apparently the ever-hated (well, by me at least) David Cook will also be performing.

This sounds like a dud to me.
My advice: DVR it and fast forward to Daughtry’s performance after you finish ringing in the New Year with Ryan Seacrest on ABC!

I love New Year’s Eve! I actually got the opportunity to go to New York City to see the ball drop 2 years ago and it was so awesome! What an exciting experience it was. Everyone should go once in their life to Times Square on New Year’s Eve. There’s nothing like it. But it’s crazy! People were waiting outside at like noon. I couldn’t do that. I was spoiled and didn’t have to wait because my friend has an apartment in Times Square so we just went downstairs and watched it from the sidewalk right before midnight. Good times. Daughtry was actually there performing when I was there but I couldn’t see them from where I was. I wanted to see them so bad! But I guess not bad enough to wait in the cold for 12 hours… sorry Daughtry.

Well, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year and all that good stuff!!

Daughtry supports Feeding America

by

This is something I really should have posted about before the bidding ended and I apologize, but hey, December is a crazy month.

Anyways, the members of Daughtry signed a bowl at the American Music Awards to be put up for auction and benefit Feeding America’s “Fill a Bowl, Feed America” campaign. According to Feeding America, $1 provides 16 meals for a child which is just mind blowing.

You can always count on our Daughtry boys to help out for a good cause. They are so charitable!

There were 53 signed bowls put up for auction and Daughtry’s bowl went for the 7th highest amount at $225. Not too shabby!
The bowls that went for the most money were George Clooney’s for $1000, David Archuleta’s for $700 (who knew that kid would be so popular?) and my boys!!! New Kids on the Block had their bowl go for $575!! I’m so proud of NKOTB, they really pulled off an amazing comeback!

Apparently this is turning into the Daughtry/ New Kids on the Block blog… I realize this but there is just nothing I can do about it right now. The NKOTB have me so obsessed right now and that’s not something I can control. I realized that almost every single one of my posts since like May, I have mentioned New Kids on the Block or Donnie Wahlberg. Oh well, anyone who’s every had a real obsession can understand. Those who have not experienced such an obsession, well, you’ll just have to deal with it!

Daughtry wins American Music Award!

by

So, did you guys see the AMA’s last night? I thought the show was pretty good. I haven’t really been watching awards shows lately though so I really don’t have much to compare it too. Plus, I gotta be honest, I didn’t sit through the whole show. Come on! I do have a life you know… kinda.

Well, anyways… Daughtry won the AMA for Favorite Band, Duo or Group- Pop or Rock music! They were up against Coldplay and the Eagles so that’s cool! That gives them their 4th American Music Award! Congratulations Daughtry!
Unfortunately they did not win the award for Favorite Artist- Adult Contemporary. That went to Jordin Sparks but hey, you can’t win ‘em all.
You can click HERE for a list of all the winners.

For those who missed it, here’s a video of them receiving their award:

They also got to present Rihanna with her award for Favorite Female Artist. They looked really good!

Some of the performances were pretty lame last night. I thought Coldplay was really awkward and lame as well as Mariah Carey. She sounded good but it was really boring. I thought the Pussycat Dolls were actually pretty entertaining but good God! They are so skanky it’s unbelievable!

OK, now you know I can’t talk about the AMA’s without talking about the New Kids on the Block performance! They were so awesome! I was really curious to see what they would perform and they ended up doing a medley of a few songs and it was so cool. I thought the best part (besides Donnie Wahlberg looking HOT… as usual) was Joey McIntyre singing “Please Don’t Go Girl”. He has such an awesome voice. And who am I kidding? They all looked hot.
I was also glad they incorporated “Dirty Dancing” because that is my favorite song off their new album.
I love you NKOTB! =) Just ignore me.

Here’s a video of their performance:

Chris Daughtry on CSI: NY

by

Last night Chris Daughtry appeared on the 100th episode of CSI: NY entitiled “My Name is Mac Taylor” on CBS. That’s awesome because that’s a pretty popular show! Go Chris!

I had no idea it was going to be on and then someone told me about it today (sorry I couldn’t keep you posted).
So I didn’t get a chance to see it, but luckily if you’re like me and you missed it last night you can watch the full episode HERE!

I’m so happy that they are still in the limelight because it’s been a while since they released their album so it’s good to see people are still interested in him and haven’t given up on them. Apparently they are still working on their second album and it’s killing me!
Their first (and only) album was released 2 years ago exactly tomorrow and I don’t know about you but I am so anxious to get new music from them!
Hopefully this all just means that when it finally is released it turns out to be the best album of all time…wishful thinking there.

But for now, we’ll just settle with the appearances they’ve been making and listen to the first CD for the millionth time (not that that’s a bad thing) and wait patiently.

Also, don’t forget that the American Music Awards will air this Sunday, November 23rd at 8pm ET on ABC.
Daughtry is nominated for 2 awards so hopefully we’ll get to see them win both of them
And of course, you know I’m excited to see New Kids on the Block perform!!

Daughtry on Oprah tomorrow!

by

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th, Daughtry will be performing live in Chicago for Oprah’s Voting Party special Election Day show! Apparently they will be performing “Feels like the First Time” and hopefully there will be a short interview as well, but I can’t guarantee that.

That’s pretty exciting news because Oprah is a pretty big deal… or so I’ve heard. So check it out and don’t miss it. Set your TiVo’s if you’re so lucky to own one.

I’m so proud of Daughtry that they are not joining the celebrity bandwagon and proclaiming who they are voting for (at least not that I’ve seen). They are more concerned with just encouraging people to vote and I find that very honorable and refreshing. I thought it was very noble of them that they performed at both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention. Isn’t that was America is all about? God Bless America and God Bless Daughtry!

I for one will be so glad when Election Day is over because I am so sick of hearing about the election I could puke. I’m going to go vote, I’m going to participate in democracy and all that but then I don’t want to hear about it anymore. Is that too much to ask? They’ve only been campaigning for 3 years! (Well, it feels like it’s been 3 years…)

So, don’t forget to vote tomorrow, don’t forget to watch Daughtry on Oprah, and then don’t forget to never mention any of this to me ever again.

And speaking of voting, don’t forget to vote for Daughtry for the American Music Awards!

Well, the nominations are in for the 2008 American Music Awards and Daughtry was nominated for 2 awards! Favorite Band, Duo or Group- Pop or Rock music and Favorite Artist- Adult Contemporary Music.
Well, they were nominated for 3 AMA’s last year and they won all 3 including one they are nominated for again this year (Favorite Artist- Adult Contemporary Music) so let’s hope they are as lucky this year! They deserve it!

Here’s the details of who they are up against:

And guess what? Guess who’s performing at the show? My boys! New Kids on the Block!! They are so awesome and I’m sure they are going to give an awesome performance.
I’m so excited!
Everything in my life right now somehow ends up back at New Kids on the Block. I’m in the middle of a little obsession right now in case you can’t tell. Don’t worry, it will pass…someday.

The other performers include: Rihanna, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, The Pussycat Dolls, Ne-Yo and P!nk.
Sounds like it’s going to be an entertaining show. Let’s hope it’s more entertaining than the MTV Video Music Awards…

Concert Review: New Kids on the Block

by

So, I need to get a little off topic here for a minute because I went to go see the New Kids on the Block last week in Toronto and I really want to talk about it… so we are going to embrace a different musical genre for a moment.

OK, the show was AMAZING! I was so shocked! Well, I knew it was gonna be a blast to hear all the old songs and see them live, but I had no idea how good they would actually be.

First of all, let’s just get this out of the way right now. They looked HOT! I mean really gorgeous. I was surprised by how good they all looked in person. I personally am a Donnie Wahlberg fan but Jordan Knight is the best looking person I’ve ever seen in my life. Scary and sad, but true. (Don’t even get me started about Jordan getting up there with no shirt on… seriously… OK fine click the link at the end of the post to see nakie, shirtless, unbelievable Jordan…I can’t smut up my blog)

Moving on, they sounded so good. All the vocals were really awesome, especially from Jordan and Joey. It’s amazing how well they sang the old songs; I was impressed. And their new music is really, really good. For the most part not what you would expect from the New Kids on the Block but I really love the new CD. I will say that most of their songs are very sexual so they aren’t really kid friendly. They’ve come a very long way from “Hangin’ Tough” and “Step by Step” but they have some pretty awesome club-type dance songs on there.

They put on a really fantastic show. The dancing was really good and so much fun (Joey McIntyre even did a little solo interlude as an ode to his time on Dancing with the Stars). Danny Wood got up there and did a break dance that would have been impressive from anyone but he’s almost 40 for God’s sake!

And the most impressive thing of all were the fans. From the time the lights went out until the time they came back on, every single person in that entire arena was on their feet. I’ve never seen anything like it. Everyone was singing along and dancing and SCREAMING. Good Lord, it was by far the loudest concert I’ve ever been to. My ears were ringing for days… but it was worth it.

The moral of the story is: the show was an absolute blast! They looked and sounded awesome and I can guarantee you that no New Kids fan left that arena disappointing.
They are even better the second time around!

Their CD, The Block, debuted at #2 on the Top 200 which is extremely impressive; especially after 15 years!
(By the way, back to Daughtry for a second, the re-release of their album caused them to be the greatest gainer for the week and brought them back up to #36… also pretty impressive after 95 weeks on the chart)

Don’t forget to click the link below to see shirtless Jordan ;)

I’m pretty excited about this except for the fact that I already have the original CD so a lot of it is just doubling up on what I already own… I’m torn. I really want to hear the 4 bonus tracks though.
I’m amazed by how well this CD has done and I’m sure with this release it’s just going to get bigger. They have already sold over 4 million copies and have three #1 songs and five Top 40 top 10 hits (which is a record for a debut album, and tied for the record for any album, debut or not)! It is the fastest selling debut rock album in history! It’s really amazing for any band let alone a band’s first CD coming from a former American Idol contestant. Just amazing. Go Daughtry!

In other new music news: The New Kids on the Block’s new Album, The Block, was released today and I have to go buy that as soon as I get out of work. I already know a few of the songs and I really like them. We’ll see how the rest of the album is. Since I’m going to the show in a few weeks I’ll have to at least become a little familiar with the new material. I’m so excited!

“What About Now” #1 on VH1

by

Daughtry’s newest single off their debut album is “What About Now” which I am am very excited about because it’s one of my favorites on the CD. I was just wondering how many singles they have released off of this album because it seemed like there have been quite a few. So, I looked it up and this is their 7th (and final) single off their album! That is amazing. Just goes to show you what an awesome CD it really is. And it’s only their first one! It’s amazing how much they’ve accomplished so far and how much success they’ve had. I can only expect even greater things from their next album. I can’t wait to hear new music from Daughtry.

Anyways, their video for “What About Now” is currently #1 on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown! Yay Daughtry!
And my other boys, The New Kids on the Block, only slipped from the top down to #3 with their single “Summertime” which I find impressive after 15 years. Sorry, had to slip that in there… I’m multi-tasking.

I can’t embed it, but click on the link below to check out the video for “What About Now”. It’s really touching; I’ve never really seen a music video like this before. It shows us footage showing many different issues from hurricane victims to starvation and disease in Africa, all the while asking the viewer what they can do to make a difference. It’s so nice to see them doing something good with their popularity.

Also, you can click HERE to go to VH1.com and vote for the video to keep it at #1.

Daughtry song on Guitar Hero: On Tour!

by

Here’s some more exciting Daughtry news we need to catch up on.

Daughtry’s song, “What I Want” is featured on Guitar Hero: On Tour. That is so awesome! “What I Want” is one of my favorite songs from his album. I actually think it’s gets the most plays on my iPod of all of his songs. And it is a PERFECT song for Guitar Hero. That game is sooo addicting. I could play it for hours and not even realize it. Luckily though I don’t own it so I won’t end up wasting my life playing Guitar Hero all day. I have to make a conscious effort to go to my friend’s house if I want to play… it’s better this way.

Anyways, you can click HERE to find out where you can purchase it and get clips of all the featured songs. Besides Daughtry, there are 19 other artists which include:Nirvana, No Doubt, Ozzy Osbourne, Maroon 5 and a bunch more. Make sure you check it out! Daughtry continues to make it’s mark on Rock and Roll history.

I’ve still got lots of other updates coming so don’t worry. We’ll get it all down so we don’t miss anything.

Speaking of getting everything down, I’m gonna post a blog that Chris did a couple weeks ago where he talked about new songs he’s been writing by himself, with the band and even working with other writers. I can’t wait to hear some new stuff from Daughtry. It’s about time they get a new CD together. Click on the link below to read his blog.

Some much needed Daughtry updates

by

I know I have been really out of touch with Daughtry lately and I apologize. Instead of just giving recent news I really feel like I have to slowly catch up on all the things I’ve missed over the past couple months (I’m so ashamed I’ve let it go this far).

Anyways, here we go:

All the way back in May (*hides head in shame*) MSN featured Daughtry in their MSN Music In Concert series. They have videos of their full concert on April 3, 2008 at the Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California.
Daughtry MSN music in concert

You can watch it HERE. Also if you follow the link you can see some behind the scenes pictures and other cool stuff.
You definitely have to check it out. Daughtry really puts on a great performance and I almost forgot how much I love Chris’ voice (if that’s even possible).
It brings back very fond memories of when I got to see them live last year. I was really hoping to get to see them again this summer but unfortunately (or fortunately… it depends on how you look at it I guess) I spend my concert money to go to the New Kids on the Block reunion tour in September. As much as I love Daughtry, I am really excited to see NKOTB, and more specifically Donnie Wahlberg… but that’s a whole ‘nother story.
Donnie Wahlberg
Sorry, woah, how did that get in here…

Anyways, over the next little while I hope to slowly but surely get caught up so keep checking back.

American Idol Tour 2008

by

I know, I know. I haven’t updated in a while but we’ve been having some technical difficulties so hopefully everything is back on track and I should be more up to date with Daughtry Land.

But in related news, a couple friends and I went to go see the American Idol Show in Toronto last week and I thought I’d give a review on it.

First of all, Daughtry was very present at the show. They played, I think, 4 or 5 of his songs before the show started and during the intermission, and they also played the music video for “Feels Like Tonight” so that was pretty cool.

I had a blast at the show. It was really fun hanging out with my friends and going to concerts is always an exciting event. Of course the highlight of the show was seeing Michael Johns, who was absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to see what he does when the tour is over.

All that being said… This was the 6th year that I have gone to the American Idol show (I know that’s pathetic but I can’t resist) and this was THE WORST show yet.
I found that very strange because this year there were some really great people and I thought they would put on a great show. I will say, it wasn’t their fault, it was whoever put the set list together. It was so boring and it made for a very uninteresting concert.
All they did was have each finalist sing three songs in the order they got kicked off starting with #10, Chikezie. Well, actually David Archuleta sang 4 songs and David Cook sang 5 songs and they had two extremely LAME and short group songs; one before intermission and one at the very end and that was it. Horrible.

In years pasts they have done plenty of group songs, girl group songs, guy group songs, special duets and trios, dancing, audience participation… all kinds of fun things that made the show really exciting. This year was a total bust. I feel sorry for the Top 10 because they got screwed out of an awesome tour. Apparently the powers that be got really, really lazy this year. Yikes.

However, even though the concert was poorly put together, each finalist did a really awesome job. Well, except maybe Ramielle… she wasn’t that great.

Oh! And the icing on the cake, they didn’t even give us Pop-tarts this year! They usually pass out new flavors of Pop-tarts in the lobby after the show. This year: No Pop-tarts. It was all very sad.

Clearly, none of this will stop me from going to the show next year. American Idol controls my life.

American Idol hates me

by

Well, this is hard evidence. Not only does every single one of my favorites become the “shocker elimination” of the season, now David Cook, who I’ve hated since his audition, wins the whole thing.
If I wasn’t so ridiculously addicted to this show I would never watch it again. But we all know that’s never gonna happen.

Despite the outcome, the finale was actually pretty entertaining. I think my favorite part of the show was when Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. were the Pips. That was hilarious!

And of course I got to see my real American Idol for the season, Michael Johns. And he was as amazing as ever.

Michael Johns, the American Idol

On Tuesday night when they were doing the whole boxing theme did anyone else notice the part where they asked “Who will be the next to win the title?” and then they showed pictures of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and CHRIS DAUGHTRY?!
Do I need to remind them that Chris didn’t actually win? Instead they sacrificed him so they could have a shocking elimination. This just shows how much they regret letting him go (because we all know this show is rigged). I personally think that part of the reason David Cook won this year was because they are trying to make up for losing out on Daughtry now that they see how successful he has been. But needless to say, David Cook is NO Chris Daughtry.

Anyways, I will say one good thing about David Cook, his Guitar Hero commercial was really good. So much better than the Archuleta version.

Well, another season of American Idol has come and gone. I will be waiting with bated breath for the next season to begin (as much as I hate to admit it… that’s actually a true statement).
