Daughtry is #1… again

by Laura

OK I know I haven’t updated in a while but things have been crazy… or I’ve just been in mourning over the loss of Michael Johns on American Idol; you decide.

I can’t believe this season is almost over! Next week is the finale! Where does the time go?
So, David Cook and David Archuleta… I would have never picked those two.
It really angers me to the core that the one guy I have hated since DAY ONE (click here for proof) is at the finale.
Was I not clear on how much I hate him? Don’t even get me started.

Anyways, enough about American Idol. Let’s talk about Chris for a hot second.

While I was off doing God only knows what, Daughtry was actually going on without me (what?)
So here are a few updates:

Daughtry Album cover

Big news for Daughtry!
Daughtry’s “Feels Like Tonight” reached #1 on the Billboard Chart. Now they are the first group to have three #1 singles from a debut album AND also the only other group, besides Nickelback, to have three #1 singles from a single album.
The other #1’s: “It’s Not Over” and “Home.”

ALSO, Daughtry’s debut album has now been certified 4x platinum! That’s 4 million copies sold!

That is so amazing! I’m so proud of these guys. They are so successful and I’m so happy for them. They deserve it.

On another note, I am going to see New Kids on the Block in September in Toronto and I’m not even gonna pretend that I’m not ridiculously excited about it.

New Kids on the Block Reunited

The only thing that would make this better is if Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch were opening up for them but no such luck… apartently Mark Wahlberg has better things to do. Whatever.
I think I may have a huge crush on both Donnie and Mark Wahlberg… is that legal?
Oh well, there’s nothing I can do about it at this point.

Mark Wahlberg is hot
Donnie Wahlberg is hot

Daughtry Gives Back, and American Idol takes away

by Laura

So I hope you all got to see Daughtry on American Idol last week for Idol Gives Back. I really enjoyed the show. Did you see Dane Cook?! I love him. He was only on for like 1 minute though. Oh well, I guess it’s better than nothing.

It was so awesome to see Brad Pitt introduce Daughtry as “the biggest selling band of last year”. As if we didn’t know just how amazing Daughtry is, I think this proves it.
I’m not a big fan of Brad Pitt but I’ve heard he’s popular…

“What About Now” is one of my favorite Daughtry songs and I loved the way he sang it for the show. A perfect fit for the spirit of the evening.

Here’s a video of the whole thing (even the Brad Pitt intro) for those who missed it:

And of course, on Thursday, the worst thing ever happened… Michael Johns was eliminated! I’m so disgusted with this show. Every single time I really love a contestant they end up being the shocker elimination of the season! It sucks so bad.
Constantine Maroulis, Chris Daughtry and now Michael Johns.
My friend said I had the kiss of death. I guess that must be true LOL
Why do I put myself through this every year?

Well, getting back on track. Chris wrote a letter that I got in my e-mail (since I am on the ONE.org mailing list) promoting the cause for ONE.org and talking about their trip to Uganda. Read the rest of the entry below to see Chris’ letter and see what you can do to support the ONE campaign.

Chris Daughtry featured on Sevendust and Theory of a Deadman songs!

by Laura

Thanks to Christina for reminding me about this!

Chris provided guest vocals on the song “The Past” from Sevendust’s new album Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow that was just released this week on April 1.
Sevendust album cover Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow

The song is really awesome and as always Chris sounds amazing. Makes me even more impatient for a new Daughtry album with new songs!

Here’s a link to listen to the song on youtube. (don’t get your hopes up, it’s not a video)

Chris also has guest vocals on the song “By the Way” from Theory of a Deadman’s new album, Scars & Souvenirs which was also released this week on April 1.

Theory of a Deadman CD cover Scars & Souvenirs

Good for Chris! He’s really getting himself out there! Again, he sounds great. He’s really just doing background vocals on this song but you can definitely pick out his voice. Plus I love when he does that edgier rock stuff.

Here’s another link for you to listen to it on youtube (again… it’s not a video, just the song) Check it out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV_HPbFE9r8

Someone else contacted me about a great Daughtry site at http://www.daughtry.co.uk
Check it out, it’s a great site with lots of nice pictures and info.

I just wanna say that I know I haven’t been keeping up on this blog like I should but I appreciate all the feedback and all the people contacting me. You guys are awesome.

And I’m still waiting for someone who was lucky enough to attend a Bon Jovi/ Daughtry show to contact me and share their review with us! Hopefully someone will do that.

And don’t forget that Daughtry will be at Idol Gives Back this coming up week on April 9th.
The show starts at 7:30pm EST and goes until 10 I think.
I would love it if they performed but I haven’t heard anything about that. I guess we’ll see.
And my other boyfriend (OK maybe not) is gonna be there too, Dane Cook! I’m so excited to see him too. Should be a very interesting show. Don’t miss it!

Beatles night…again

by Laura

So, week 2 of Beatles night was needless to say, not nearly as good as the first week… which also wasn’t that good.

The Beatles theme on American Idol

When Amanda sang “Back in the USSR” I was really excited because that song is on The White Album (which is my favorite Beatles album) so I thought they would pick some of my favorites to sing. Unfortunately the only other White Album song that was sung was “Blackbird” by Carly which I did not enjoy.

I thought the best of the night was David Archuleta. But I also really enjoyed Michael Johns. I don’t know what the judges were hearing, because I also loved him last week when he sang “Across the Universe”. And for Simon to say it was a mess? I thought they were way too harsh on him.

Other than that everyone else just did OK. It was really not a very exciting night.

I was so happy that Simon told David Cook that he was smug and not as good as he thinks he is! Finally someone sees what I’ve seen since day one!

The results show was interesting. I’m so excited that Dane Cook is going to be involved in Idol Gives Back this year! Love him.
I thought the group song was really good. They sang all the good songs in the medley! They should have used those songs for their performances and then maybe it wouldn’t have sucked so badly!

I actually had no idea who was gonna go home because so many of them were just OK. Of course I was hoping that Kristy Lee would go home because I’m so sick of her! (And I knew there was no chance that David Cook was going home)

But I was a little disappointed to see Amanda go. I would have much rather seen her go on tour than Kristy! At least she’s different and interesting. But what do I know?

RIP Amanda Overmyer…

Daughtry sings with Bon Jovi/ New Daughtry song!

by Laura

You have to see this video of Chris Daughtry joining Bon Jovi on stage to sing “Blaze of Glory” at the United Center in Chicago. It is really amazing!
Bon Jovi is Bon Jovi so you know they are amazing but Chris sounded so awesome singing with them! His voice is just unbelievable. You have to hear this. I would love it if they recorded that song together.
Ahh, it reminds me of why I fell in love with Chris’ voice in the first place.

Oh man, I wish I could’ve gone to see this tour. It would be so cool to see them on stage together! It’s hard to believe that only a few years ago Chris was virtually unknown and now he’s touring with Bon Jovi and singing with them on stage!
I will say it again, if you have tickets to any of the shows on this tour, please come back and comment and let us all know how it was; share some juicy details for us poor folks who are missing out.

Daughtry is also performing a new song on tour called “You Don’t Belong” that Chris wrote. Here is a video of one of the performances:

What a great song! I love that it’s a little more edgy. I can’t wait until they come out with a new album. Hopefully it will be soon because I’m wearing out my Daughtry CD, I need to add more music to the rotation.

American Idol: Hello Goodbye

by Laura

So it is the week we’ve been waiting for with bated breath… or not.
The week we found out whether the Top 12 would murder Lennon/McCartney songs or just sing them not as good as the original. I think we got a little bit of both.
So, why not let a group of “amateurs” tackle the greatest songs of all time? It’ll be good fun.

I actually really enjoyed the show! Love the new stage and the new look, it’s all very exciting.
The three performances I really loved? Chekezie (She’s a Woman), Brooke (Let it Be), and Michael (Across the Universe)
The three performances that sucked most? Kristy (Eight Days a Week), Syesha (Got to Get You Into My Life), and David Archuleta (We Can Work it Out)

I also really liked Amanda and Carly’s performances. And I also really did not like David Hernandez and Ramiele’s performances.

Here’s the video of Michael Johns’ performance because I just love the song “Across the Universe” and I thought he did a good job; I love his voice. Across the Universe was also a great movie but I digress.

I really wanted the bottom 3 to be: Kristy, Ramiele and Syesha… I almost got my wish
And I desperately wanted Kristy to go home! She was by far the worst of the night and is also by far the most irritating contestant on the show.

I was extremely disappointed that David Hernandez went home!!! First of all, I really liked him since the beginning and he had some really amazing performances. Second of all, now he’s not gonna be on the tour and Kristy has a chance of making the Top 10 and that just makes me sick.
He definitely had a bad performance last night but I don’t think he deserved to go home first.
I’m very sad… but I’ll get over it.
It’s not like is was Constantine Maroulis or Chris Daughtry getting kicked off but still.

RIP David Hernandez…

We have our Top 12… finally

by Laura

So, we are finally into the Top 12; the most important part of American Idol. Well, actually it would be the Top 10 because only they Top 10 tour (which it so ridiculous, don’t even get me started).

The girls did an OK job on Wednesday, again, nothing spectacular. I was glad that Amanda finally showed why anyone even liked her in the first place. And I really liked what Brooke did to “Love is a Battlefield”. Other than that I can’t really remember any of the girls.

American Idol Results

But I was very surprised by the results show! Very surprised.
Luke was beyond obvious but, I thought 100% for sure that Chikezie was gonna be gone. And then when they had in down to either him or Danny I was even more sure (if that’s even possible) and then all of a sudden Danny is gone? I was very shocked. I don’t like Danny but it seemed like a lot of other people did and nobody really cared about Chikezie… apparently I was wrong.

I was also surprised with the girls. Well, I knew, we all knew, that Kady was leaving… even Kady knew. But then Asia’h vs. Kristy Lee Cook (who I can’t stand) and Asia’h leaves?
Unbelievable. I really liked Asia’h from the beginning. I know she had a few questionable song choices but I was sad to see her go. And I can’t stand K.L.C. I think we’ve have enough blond country singers on this show, can we please move on?

And Blake Lewis was there to entertain us…
I don’t like him. I like his beat boxing but he is so cocky and I can’t watch him… Hmmm sounds a lot like someone on the show this season. *cough*DavidCook*cough*

Other than those few surprises, it was obvious that the rest were going through. We’ll see what happens on the rest of the show. I’m excited to see the new set! That should be interesting.

These are the best guys?

by Laura

So yet again nobody is blowing me away. What is going on? There have always been some amazing performances in the early stages of the game and this year I’m caring less and less about these people.

I know that you all know that I’ve hated David Cook since day one. And I still do, but there’s something wrong when the one I hate the most is the only one who’s getting any better.
I will admit that if I don’t look at the TV when he’s singing and if I don’t listen to him talk after or watch his video before he sings, he’s tolerable.
I just hate that he acts so cocky and thinks he’s already a rock star and he’s doing everyone a favor by competing on this show. Grow up.
And his comb-over gets better and better every week too, so that’s a good thing.
I need to just get one thing perfectly straight here: David Cook is not the second coming of Chris Daughtry… end of story. He’s not even the second coming of Constantine Maroulis. Just had to throw that in there too.

Anyways, I really hope that Luke and Danny go home this week although I have a sad feeling Danny will be sticking around.
Luke is just so handsome but I can’t bear to listen to him anymore.

Michael Johns on American Idol

I had such high hopes for my Aussie friend and he’s just not stepping it up. On the up side, I do love listening to him talk so all is forgiven.

I would go on to talk about each person and their performance but I just don’t care! It’s so sad! I miss the good old days.

American Idol… Daughtry Gives Back!

by Laura

So American Idol continued this week with their 70’s theme. Although very few people actually sang any good 70’s classics. Overall, again I wasn’t really blown away with anybody. Obviously David Archuleta was great and also David Hernandez. For the girls, Brooke was the best but they disappointed me this week. It’s weird because after seeing Hollywood week this year I thought it was gonna be a great year and now it’s just not living up to my expectations!

Anyways, the most interesting part of Idol this week was the results show. They were promoting the Idol Gives Back show for this year and they said that Daughtry is going to be a part of it! So that’s exciting! Something to look forward to this season. I really enjoy the show last year and I’m sure they’ll try to top that this year.
It will be on Wednesday, April 9th.

American Idol Gives Back

Also they said that the Lennon/McCartney songbook has been released to them this year. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. Clearly they have some amazing songs but at the same time I don’t really want to hear anyone butchering them either… I guess I could give them the benefit of the doubt.

I was so happy to see Robbie go, a little sad to see Jason go… he was so adorable.
I thought Cady should have gone instead of Alaina and I was so upset about Alexandrea leaving! I really liked her voice and I thought she’d get another chance… I guess not.
Oh well, onto the 80’s for this week coming up. That should be horrid. I hate 80’s music.

Catching up on American Idol

by Laura

So I have a little catching up to do because I didn’t post about last week.

Did you catch that they used Daughtry’s song “What About Now” during the Top 24 montage last Thursday night? I love that song. Daughtry seems to be popping up a lot in the episodes this season.

So, maybe subconsciously I didn’t post about last week because I really wasn’t that impressed with anyone. The only one I really really liked last week was David Hernandez. The rest were just, eh.
I don’t like that they’re giving them themes so early in the season! Why are they doing this? Can’t we wait a few more weeks before we have to sit through horrible theme nights? Apparently not…

As I’ve said before, my favorites are: David Archuleta, David Hernandez, Michael Johns, Asia’h Epperson, Carly Smithson, and I’m giving Amanda Overmyer a chance… I’m still on the fence with her.

But anyways, I was very happy with the results last week. No big shocks, those people needed to go eventually so why not. There are a few other people I would love to see go soon, so I guess we’ll see.

As you all know, I cannot stand David Cook and I’m putting my foot down about it. Until he is gone I will not stop complaining about him. I honestly cannot even stand to watch him on my screen. It sickens me.
Note to David Cook: You are going bald. Get over and stop trying to hide it. It’s only resulting in the worst forward comb-over ever.

My sister actually said he reminded her of the “beard comb-over” guy in that Sierra Mist commercial!!!! I almost died laughing when she said that! LOL

You decide:

On the Road Again…

Bon Jovi touring with Daughtry

So, yesterday Daughtry started out on their new 2008 tour with Bon Jovi in Omaha, Nebraska. (Which, by the way, is not the capital of Nebraska. I always thought it was, but apparently it’s Lincoln… who knew?) I can only imagine how awesome those shows are going to be. I wish I were going to one of them. Who would’ve guessed that when he sang “Dead or Alive” on American Idol he would be touring with Bon Jovi soon after? I’m so happy for them… and so proud.
There was an article on MSN this morning about the Hot Tours for ‘08 and of course they mentioned Bon Jovi teaming up with Daughtry. Like a match made in heaven.
Click HERE to read the article.

Well, I’m jealous of everyone who’s going. Have pity on us who are not and pop in and share your story with us. If you contact me I’ll post your review of the show on here.
(Just scroll down and click on the “Contact me” link under my name on the right side of the page)
I hope to hear from some of you!

So Chris posted a new video blog and he is hilarious! You gotta see it, he is acting like a freak and I love it.
Watch it HERE!!
Apparently they are going to be featuring a new song on the tour called “You Don’t Belong” and I can’t wait to hear it. He said it’s “little heavier than what you’re used to from Daughtry” and I am really excited about that!! Not that I don’t love Daughtry (clearly) but I especially love to hear Chris “rock out”… if I may.
Like his old band, Absent Element. I loved them because they were a lot edgier and more hard rock sounding. Love it.

More American Idol Ranting

by Laura

So this week was Hollywood week and it was so exciting! Hollywood week has always been my favorite because I think it’s the most interesting part of the show. They should definitely make it longer than one show! Especially considering all the hours of auditions we have to sit through! But what do I know?

American Idol Hollywood Week 2008

Anyways, if you read my previous rant, you know that I absolutely cannot stand David Cook. Well…my hate for him is only growing stronger.
Did you see him? He is such a cocky little punk! And for no good reason because I agreed with Simon and thought he sucked (I know you’re all surprised by that).
And even though I love Ryan Seacrest, I was very angry that he added fuel to the fire of my hatred by yet again comparing him to Chris Daughtry!!!
Is the the Twilight Zone people? He is no where NEAR as good as Chris on Chris’ worst day. I mean it’s just absurd to even hear their names in the same sentence!

I think he’s disgusting, he does not have a rock voice, he does not even have a good voice, he’s a cocky punk and he needs to go home. Our rocker for the year is that nurse girl who *gasp* actually has a rock voice and isn’t a poser moron.

Anyways, moving on…

There are a lot of really good people this year and I’m shocked. I thought for sure this year would suck as badly as last year. So far my favorites are: The Irish girl, Michael Johns (the Australian guy), the 16 year old guy, and David Hernandez. I also like the rocker chick and the girl who’s Dad died and the girl who’s never seen a rated R movie.
I feel bad describing them like that but I haven’t been paying much attention to names yet. We’ll see how it goes form here…

Oh, by the way, Josiah…stop crying and pull yourself together.

I was a little shocked that Josiah and the dorky kid didn’t make it through. Not because I liked them though so I’m over it.

Daughtry shut out of Grammys

by Laura

Daughtry somehow came out of the 50th Annual Grammy Awards empty handed.

Daughtry at the Grammys

They were nominated for 4 Grammy Awards and shut out in all their categories:

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals:
(Daughtry nominated for “Home”)
Winner: “Makes Me Wonder” Maroon 5

Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals:
(Daughtry nominated for “It’s Not Over”)
Winner: “Icky Thump” The White Stripes

Best Rock Song:
(Daughtry nominated for “It’s Not Over”)
Winner: “Radio Nowhere” Bruce Springsteen

Best Rock Album:
(Daughtry nominated for Daughtry)
Winner: Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace Foo Fighters

I found this very sad and I honestly thought they deserved to win at least one Grammy! I mean come on! It must be so difficult for them to be nominated 4 times and leave without one win. I’m sure they feel honored to be nominated and all that but it still must be very disappointing to get shut out like that. Sorry Daughtry! You’re still a winner in our eyes.

The one that makes me the most upset is that Maroon 5 won for Best Pop Performance because I absolutely HATE that song “Makes Me Wonder” and I can’t believe it won a Grammy over “Home”, which is such an amazing song.
Great, I’m gonna have that stupid song stuck in my head now.
Daughtry was robbed!

You can go HERE to see the full list of nominees and winners for this year’s Grammy Awards.

A Romantic Dinner with Chris Daughtry

by Laura

I received an e-mail today notifying me that Chris Daughtry is being featured in Barilla’s The Celebrity Italian Table Cookbook. They asked 5 celebrities for their favorite pasta dishes and then Mario Batali created a meal inspired by each of them. David Tutera also designed a table setting inspired by each celebrity to go with their meal. This year’s celebrities include: Chris Daughtry, Debra Messing, Natalie Portman, Marisa Tomei and Stanley Tucci. It’s nice to see Chris’ name in with all those popular actors and actresses.

The Celebrity Italian Table Cookbook; Chris Daughtry

The cookbook is available to be downloaded for free HERE.
For every cookbook that is downloaded, $1.00 will be donated to America’s Second Harvest food bank. You get to choose if you want it to be donated to the national campaign or to a location near where you live.

I just downloaded it, and the romantic dinner inspired by Chris looks amazing! His meal includes; Eggplant Involtini, Rigatoni with Basil and Gorgonzola and a Cherry Jam Tart…yum. I love Italian food.
There’s also a little section that explains why he chose his dish. Who knew Chris was a prep cook at a country club?

Go download it now! How can you go wrong? It’s Chris, it’s free, and you’re helping those in need.

Also, don’t forget about the Grammy Awards this Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 8pm EST on CBS.
Daughtry is nominated for 4 awards!
I really have to keep my fingers crossed. How awesome would it be to see Daughtry win a Grammy (well, hopefully at least one, if not more)? They definitely deserve it.

Update on Chris’ new tattoo

by Laura

So you all know that Chris now has 3 tattoos: The big ‘Daughtry’ across his back, the cross on his left arm, and the angel on his right arm. Right?

Well, I found some new information about his new angel tattoo. Apparently, it is a tattoo of his wife. In my previous post I said that some people were saying it looked like his wife and I guess they were right.

Here’s what he had to say about it:

quote>“My wife’s so good that I actually had her tattooed on me yesterday,” Daughtry says, showing off a buxom blonde pinup girl with a pair of angel wings. “Those are actually her wings, if you tickle her just right.”

He also said that the tattoo took 8 hours!!! Can you imagine? *shudder* Oh my Lord. I can’t imagine someone poking me with a needle for 8 hours.

Click HERE to read the article where I found his quote.

And I also came across this picture of the tattoo which is really close up so you can get a better look at it:
Chris Daughtry’s new angel tattoo of his wife

Now, I will say again that you all know I love Chris but I personally think this is the ugliest tattoo. It’s a sweet gesture and I’m sure his wife appreciates it but close up, the tattoo is even uglier than I originally thought.
Sorry.

Well, I still haven’t seen all of the Soundstage concert! I wasn’t home when it was on and I haven’t had a chance to watch the whole thing yet. But I have seen bits and pieces of it and from what I’ve seen it was just as amazing as I thought it would be. I’ve seen him live before so I already know he is just as good live as he is on the CD, which is sometimes hard to find these days.
